I am Vidhi, a resident of Goa, the land of beautiful beaches, the Sun and the Sand, the Sea, the Mountains and Rivers, the Nut plantations and the rolling lush green rice-fields.
It's a place which calms down a restless mind, filling it with serenity.
When I first came here, from a crowded, fast-paced Metropolis, Mumbai, it was a huge change of scene for me. I came here, dreaming of beautiful beaches, glorious sunsets, long evening walks on the beach, with the waves lapping at my feet. The wonderful, cool, salty fresh sea-breeze blowing through my hair...
In reality, I settled down in the central mountainous part of Goa.
With the first look at this area, filled with small mountains, valleys, interspersed with rivers and streams, I remembered the Russian fairy-tales, with the young boy, Ivanovich, setting out to seek the princess, crossing 7 mountains, 7 rivers and 7 jungles. Well, they are all here, the mountains, rivers and jungles. Ivanovich might as well have traveled to Goa....
The life here was a bit slow for me initially, but I have grown to love the laid-back style of living. I love to wake up to the call of birds, have my first cup of tea looking out onto the fields or the coconut plantation across from my home. A lovely Kingfisher sits on the fence and gives my day a colorful start...
